Verushka #2 is here

The one I've been waiting for since last year finally arrived...looking like this!

Is that SCARY or WHAT?!?!
The big fuzzy ear flaps and dangly chain just weren't doin' it for me!
AND she was nearly BALD under that hat.
So I had to send her back for a replacement.
The replacement doll came, and I figured out
a way to subdue that crazy hat somewhat.

MUCH BETTER! You can actually see her FACE now.

Oh and this is what she looks like, sans hat: (photo courtesy of someone else)
I think she looks better with the hat. Adds mystery!

Beware of the Hat

Ahhhhh! Attack of the faux fur!
Is this hat scary or what?
After some serious primping, Ekaterina managed to shake the hat hair.
Talk about some boots made for walkin'!

Blech. Too much fur,
too much swirl....
there's too much going on!
But it somehow works on this girl.
Even the hat's doable!

I just prefer a more simple look for my dolls.

Modern, classic, sophisticated.
I also pretty much just have to throw something
together from the random pieces I have laying around!

Just Dolls?

Sometimes other things sneak into my collection....
such as this Silkstone carrying case
(not that I would actually carry this anywhere)

the inside
Or this rolling wardrobe rack and mannequins.

Or the MOST ADORABLE COUCH EVER!
How CUTE are these pillows?!?

The detail and quality were top-notch in my book.
And hello, it's so pink you can't help but love it!

Boys in da House!

I never understood the point of Ken as a collectible doll.
Sure, the regular cheap Kens were much-needed
as Barbie's boyfriend/groom during my childhood years,
but I never saw the point in including Ken in my adult collection.

I mean, we are talking about a MAN doll here. Men's clothes? BORE-ING!!
And what was the point of that molded hair?
How are you supposed to get excited about that?!?
That's not to say Ken doesn't have a place in collectible gift sets,
(like this one Jeremy bought me several years ago)
but only alongside the fashion queen, Barbie.

Until.

They made a silkstone Ken and gave him real hair.
He's in a uniform, he's got a sword, he's got scruff,
he's got everything!
(and he looks like Jeremy.)

He's one of the Russian-inspired silkstones for 2011.
Okay, okay, I really only got him as arm candy
for Verushka, coming out next month.
I don't know if this means I am officially collecting Kens now,
but now there are TWO of them.

Putting the B in BLING

My last post on Tribute's FAB-ulous jewelry lead me
to examine the other gems Barbie's sportin' these days.

Barbie's got some serious jewelry in her arsenal:
one wicked bracelet

Aphrodite's water-inspired accessories

Joan's infamous pen necklace

Some serious bling- easily 15 carats.

Oh yes, those are Hard Rock Cafe dog tags.
